Forcing health insurance companies to cover everyone with pre-existing medical conditions without limits is like forcing a life insurance companies to write policies of any amount for people with terminal illnesses. Both are actuarial folly.

The problem is that the new health insurance customers will be forced onto low-cost plans that will barely cover the cost of the benefits they will enjoy. There will not be enough money to pay for the expensive coverage of those with pre-existing conditions as well.
